Plugable HDMI Switch With USB-C - 3840 × 2160 - 4K - 3 x 1 - 1 x HDMI Out

The Plugable HDMI-SC3 3×1 HDMI Switch allows you to connect up to three inputs to one display and switch between the different sources at the touch of a button. Switch between computers, gaming consoles, and multimedia devices with HDMI or notebook computers with a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port capable of video output via "DisplayPort Alternate Mode" (more details below). Easily share a single monitor, projector, or television between multiple devices without swapping cables. Our HDMI switch requires no drivers and is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. In most cases, no external power is required for the switch to function (but an optional USB cable for supplemental power is provided just in case). Supports HDMI 2.0 and 1.x compatible sources and displays, up to 4K 60Hz Y''CbCr 4:4:4 with 8 bits per color channel. The USB-C port accepts video input using the "DisplayPort over USB-C Alternate Mode" protocol, which can send a native DisplayPort video signal over a USB-C cable when using a supported USB-C cable and host system. The DP Alt Mode input converts this DisplayPort 1.2 signal to HDMI for output. Some USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 systems support this functionality while others do not. Plugable can help with USB-C compatibility questions prior to purchase. HDMI 2.0 Compatibility The Plugable HDMI Switch supports HDMI 2.0 output when using an HDMI 2.0 source and compatible cable. When utilizing HDMI 2.0''s highest resolution and refresh rate (3840×2160@60Hz), twice the data is being transmitted as the maximum allowed by the previous HDMI 1.4 specification. Because of this, it''s critical that an HDMI 2.0-compliant cable capable of providing the increased bandwidth be used for 4K@60 functionality. If using an HDMI 2.0 4K TV, it is strongly recommended to update the firmware/software of the TV for the best compatibility, performance, and stability. USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode Part of the USB-C 3.1 specification optionally allows the USB-C port to carry non-USB signals in Alternate Modes. The DisplayPort Alternate Mode is one of the more common modes currently available allowing an external display to be connected directly to the computer''s internal graphics controller using the DisplayPort graphics standard. This has been adopted on some notebook systems with USB-C ports and especially those with Thunderbolt 3 ports. Because Alt Mode video output over USB-C must be built-in by your laptop, tablet, or phone manufacturer, it''s always good to good to confirm if your device supports this feature prior to purchase. Some examples of supported systems include: MacBook Pro 2016 and later, iMac Pro, iMac 2017 and later, Mac mini 2018 and MacBook Air 2018. The USB-C charging cable that comes with many Apple systems does not support video transfer and a fully featured USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 cable should be used instead. Dell XPS systems including; XPS 9350 and later, XPS 9550 and later. Many systems from other manufacturers with USB-C or Thunderbolt will also work with this switch. If you are unsure if your system supports USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 display output please email our support team at support@plugable.com with your computer manufacturer name and model number and we are happy to help! Unsupported USB-C implementations include ASMedia based USB-C controllers, PCIe add-in cards with USB-C, and many gaming notebooks with discrete graphics cards will not support DispayPort Alternate Mode.
