What is an Affiliate program?

An affiliate is referred to a program that helps you to make money on the internet.  If you have a website and are listing products that you want to sell, you will need to drive traffic to your site.  How does a website do this?  By paying commissions to other websites that "link" or send you traffic that create and generate sales.

An affiliate is a company that will assist you in creating a banner.  This banner when clicked on, will send the user to your website.  The affiliate is "middle man" that will send a commission to the website that the sale was generated from.

At the same, if you have a content driven website, a popular option to make some money is to place these "affiliate" banners on your website.  Then site back, monitor your site and wait for the pay day.  The image above is an example of what you will see when you are considering adding affiliate programs to your website.
