What is AIX?

AIX stand for Advanced Interactive Executive.  This is a version of UNIX which was produced the IBM Corporation.  AIX runs on many computers including, PCs and workstations.  AIX was designed for IBM's System/390 or any large server hardware platform.  AIX/6000 is an operating system that runs on IBM workstations, and the RISC 6000 servers.

AIX contains elements of System V, BSD, and OSF/1 as well as other features to make administering; AIX is somewhat different from working with other UNIX implementations.
